Staying fit as well as having a great body to go with it are just some of the reasons why people do regular exercise, engage in sports and practice martial arts. Speaking of martial arts; have you noticed that lot of martial artists you see have great abs? For a martial artist, having spectacular abs isn’t just for aesthetic purposes only. Let’s talk about some of the reasons why martial artists find the need to build their abs and why they should.

(The video below will show you the 7 Top Secret Best Ab Workout Exercises)

One of the primary reasons is building core strength. Core strength training has a number of benefits to offer the martial artist which is the reason why this program is a hot topic in the fitness industry and the fighting arts today. These benefits of Core Strength Training are as follows:

- Improves efficiency of movements

- Improves balance and body control

- Training systematically improves the general fitness level of the athlete

- Increases the amount of applied strength of the core musculature and peripheral muscles that include the shoulders, arms and legs

- Enables the core muscles to act as “shock absorbers” thus reducing the risk of injury

- Improves stability and performance

- Stabilizes the back muscles and the abdominals through different isometric and strength building exercises which results to having less back problems encountered.

Having low abdominal fat has a lot of health benefits too. It significantly reduces the risk of having heart disease, insulin resistance, stroke and a lot of other health problems. Your abs could be the worst place to have fat build-up because it significantly increases health risks. A lot of us don’t know that fat tends to accumulate on the waistline as we age.

Aside from the fact that it doesn’t look attractive; a lot of us are not aware that along with the fat comes a multitude of potentially fatal diseases that include heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. A new study shows that belly fat can also cause breathing problems aside from the risk of having some cancers and; metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome is a collection of components that increase risk of heart disease. These factors include; unhealthy cholesterol levels, high blood sugar, high blood pressure and abdominal fat. A majority of us agree that the fat that sticks out is unattractive. What we don’t know is that; the fat contained deep within the abdomen is the one that poses the most adverse health effects.

Having washboard abs makes you look great and does wonders when it comes to building self-confidence. Raise your metabolism to help you burn fat 24h/day. Cutting fat is the key to making your abs visible. How do we do this?

We could raise our metabolism by eating spicy food and spices like chili and pepper. When building muscles; pay close attention to your large core muscles. We could also do exercises that combine cardio with strength training, drink plenty of filtered water without heavy metals and other pollutants, eating food with low G.I. (glycemic index) such as tomatoes, artichokes, low-fat yogurt, peanuts, avocadoes and the list goes on.

Most of the aspiring martial artists I know grew up idolizing Bruce Lee. Not only was he adept at his fighting art; he was also known to be somebody who possessed a well defined, well developed, very solid and exceptional abdominal muscles. His waist looked so thin and seemed to have no fat at all.

He followed 3 simple rules to make sure his abs was always in great shape. Diet is the most important thing. He watched what he ate and used a high protein – low carb approach which is a proven and effective way to build muscle and lose fat. Losing fat is the second rule he complied with and the third rule was; he worked his abs like any other muscle.

Bruce Lee believes that the abdominal and waist region coordinates all parts of the body and act as the central generator which means that you can promote the ability to control the body’s action and master your will more easily.

I know that this is easier said than done but if your goal is to achieve well-defined abdominal muscles; discipline is the key. You should follow a proper diet and watch what you eat, exercise your abs daily, understand the value of patience and perseverance and pretty soon; you’ll be seeing the results and reaping the benefits of building spectacular abs.
